I came across this old advert here and thought it was interesting enough to share (I wonder it's date and what it was originally intended for)...whatever the year or its intent, it seems just as relevant today (if not more so).

It's intent was to encourage people of the 30's to abandon fiscal conservatism in favor of rampant consumerism. Unloading their dollars faster than they obtained them (hence acquiring debt instead of savings) for consumer goods - preferably cars and electric appliances.

In other words, do a lot more of what got them depressed in the first place.

Yes, the ad is relevant to today, but not in the way you suspect.
