Nature in the City...

There's a small patch of earth on the corner of Elmwood and North Streets in Buffalo which is hemmed in by a parking lot, a sidewalk, and a metro bus stop. Most don't notice it. I usually don't, but I did the other day. There was the annual arts festival in our neighborhood which (according to the Buffalo News) drew 250,000 people and as I was sort of circumventing the crowds trying to get to my street these irises caught my attention, almost called out to me. So I went to the parking lot side and snapped a photo. There they were amidst the crowds and the heat of the day; cars, buses, and people going to and fro, and silently they shared their beauty in just a small patch of earth surrounded by asphalt.
