A few things I saw while walking around Greenwich Village this past weekend...

Maria, I actually had this trip planned for a while. I came home Monday night just as the storm was about to hit. And I'm glad I did then because the following day the same train would only go as far as Albany, it turned around and sent everyone back to NYC. But it's interesting in that the media keeps commenting on how "Buffalo" is buried in snow. Most of the city (other than South Buffalo) has only received a maximum of 10 inches or so (some areas only a dusting), which is just average snowfall. The real damage took place south and east of the city. I have two sisters who live 20 miles east of the city and they have more than 5 feet of snow. Incredible. Here in the city--other than 1 day--I have been able to continue to ride my bike to get around. I am, though, very concerned about what is to come...rain and flooding as the snow melts, and collapsing roofs because of the sheer weight of the wet snow as the temperatures rise this weekend.
