John Lennon 1940-1980

Photo found here.

I find the below video interesting on a few levels. The first is that how relevant it seems today though the song was written more than 40 years ago. The second is how at one point in the clip he talks about non-violence and Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi, and then comments how in the end they were shot...and of course he was also. I was driving and listening to the radio the morning I heard the announcement of his death...I had to pull over to the side of the road; I couldn't believe it. One can only wonder what good he may have done if he would have lived a bit longer. If your day is feeling a bit crazy (who's isn't?) or you're feeling a bit stressed, I hope you watch this short clip...it is truly inspiring.

I remember finding out when John Lennon was shot. I was in Boise, Idaho. I was ten years old and I was with my grandmother while she was running errands. We went into Hanifan's Cigar Shop to get cigars for my grandpa, and it was on the radio. When we got outside I asked, "Gramma, who's John Lennon." And she answered, "Nobody, just some hippy. Don't worry about it."
If she had said "One of the Beatles," I'd have known, but I was too young to know them individually. If she had only known what a hippy I would grow up to be, what a huge Lennon fan I would be, and how much of an effect he would have on my life... And so many others! Rest in peace, John. And thanks for sharing the video, Joe.

CH: I was 19 at the time, driving my truck and listening to morning radio (and hungover if I recall correctly). As I stated in the original post i had to pull over. His music impacts me still. I'm glad you liked the clip...I've watched it 3 times in the past few days. Thanks for the comments.

Peace.
