Bicycle Boulevard 18mph / 29kmph


A friend of mine who was recently in Albuquerque, NM posted this picture and I thought I'd share it with fellow velophiles (thanks Sean!). 18mph / 29kmph...not bad. With the ever increasing popularity of bicycles as a viable form of transport maybe we'll start seeing more of this (I have my fingers crossed).

Works for me, but I'd be just as happy with the culturally appropriate rounding off to 20 mph as well.

I agree with KFG, 15 or 20 makes more sense, but perhaps the odd 18 catches peoples attention. Of course folks will be going 25 or 30 on it anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately far too many of our population are under the misconception that "speed limit" refers to the minimum speed you should be traveling.
