Two Temperatures Six Months Separated

The above photos are two screen shots from my desktop separated by six months (both are Fahrenheit; they read -22 and 33 in Celsius). The one on the left was from a post this past January (click here) and the one on the right is from today. Both, of course, have their specific difficulties and challenges...and when you ride a bike they are magnified. Still I saw plenty of people on bikes today; sweating. Maybe it was the innocence of youth, but I don't remember these consistent extreme temperatures when I was a kid. I hope it's not the new norm.

Joe,

I don't want to think that this is the new normal, although it certainly appears to be.
How lucky are you and I to be living on the Great Lakes? Especially if this is the new normal?

Dan, I do feel fortunate to live on the great lakes. How's the temps by you...I saw that it was 100F in Toronto yesterday.

Wow. I don't remember 90+ degree weather from my childhood, that's for sure. My brother lives in the Southtowns and he told me it's now 85 degrees in his basement. So much for cooling off down there. For once I'm glad to be spending my summer in Florida with my AC.

Hi Joe.

The temp was 98.6 F here in St. Catharines. That was the hottest I remember in my 60 years in Canada.

When I was in Kuwait that temp wouldn't have been remarkable but here ....

@ Queendebor..yes these are rare temperatures indeed. We've had a "cold snap" today...only a high of 86F, it's 81F right now (at 9:30pm as I type these words. By the end of the week it is supposed to be back around 90F.

@Dan...stay cool brother
