The Sound of Silence...
I had gone for a very brief walk last evening. Other than riding to-and-from work each weekday I have not been out of the house in a week. I’ve mentioned in previous posts about how quiet streets have been but it seems they are at a new extreme. This evening I walked the entire length of Allen Street from Wadsworth to Main Street and back again and saw two souls other than myself. For those not from the 716, Allen Street is a street that is filled with bars and restaurants and this is Saturday night. I did see a few cars and one lone cyclist. It was raining lightly (you can see the drops on the lens) and I didn’t have a tripod with me so walked to the middle of the street and set the camera on a manhole cover (sorry for the gender specific term, what is the pc word for this, person-hole cover, sewer-cover...I don’t know?). Anyhow, and to reiterate, this is a long exposure photo captured in the middle of the street which is lined with bars and restaurants on a Saturday night. I could hear the sound of the rain as it hit the pavement. I know that we are doing the right thing, and I’m told it will still get worse before it gets better, but I miss what we once called normal.
